Herbal Blends for Relaxation

Calgon Take Me AWAY

I don't know about you but I'm feeling stressed. This time of year with the kids' school and work things are ramping up for me. April and May are usually insanity with school events, meetings, and very long days.

I thought it might be nice to offer some recipes for relaxing essential oil blends. I'm including easy to find, commonly known oils here. You can find them online and even at some grocery stores like Whole Foods and Molly Stones. I will tell you that they are MUCH less expensive if you purchase them online. One of my favorite online retailers for essential oils is Aromatics International, but there are many other great retailers you can find as well.

For each blend you have some options on how you'd like to use them.

1) If you have one, you can use these blends in a diffuser.

2) You can boil some water in a small pot on the stove, take it off the heat and add the blend to scent the room.

3) You can make an inhaler using these little guys.

4) You can use a carrier oil like olive oil, jojoba oil, sweet almond oil, etc. in a small dark glass bottle. Add your essential oil blend and sniff or apply to the skin whenever you want. If you choose this option, use a minimum of one ounce of oil and no more than 5-6 drops total of essential oil. So if the blend you choose has two oils in it, you'll want 3 drops of each oil or 2 drops of one and 3 drops of the other.

5) You can add the blend to a hot bath as well for a long relaxing soak.

(Note: I've kept the dilution very low so that you should not have any skin issues but NEVER apply essential oils directly to the skin without a carrier oil. It might still be worth testing a small spot on your inner wrist first)
